Natesan dares critics to file case against him
Vellappally Natesan repeated his charge against Muslims even more vigorously on Sunday and dared his detractors to file a case against him.
Speaking at a function to felicitate his 30 years as the
general secretary of SNDP Yogam, Natesan said he was not scared to tell the
truth and that no threats from Kanthapuram and the like can distract him in
this.
Minister V N Vasavan, representing the state government,
lauded Natesan for being a most efficient ‘crisis manager’ and complimented him
for his achievements.
Political observers viewed minister Vasavan’s praise as
indicative of the government’s endorsement of Vellappally’s remarks. The development comes amidst allegations that
Vellappally is the bridge between CPM and the BJP.
BDJS, the supposedly Ezhava party headed by Natesan’s son
Thushar Vellappally is a member of NDA, while the father himself is closely
identified as keeping a soft corner for CPM. Ezhavas constitute the core of the
CPM vote bank.
State BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar also spoke on the
occasion, lauding Natesan for his role in steering the community.
