Kerala MLA Uma Thomas Shows Signs of Recovery After 15-Foot Fall

Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas, who sustained serious injuries after a 15-foot fall from the VIP gallery at Kochi's Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, is exhibiting encouraging signs of recovery. Dr. Krishnaunni Polakulath, Medical Director of Renai Medicity, stated that Thomas has been responsive to treatment. "She is showing gradual improvement and responding to the treatment being administered for the injuries suffered on the head and the spinal cord," he noted. However, her lung condition remains critical, with a slight improvement observed in her respiratory health.

As part of her treatment, doctors reduced sedation to assess her neurological status. Thomas was able to recognize her children, Vivek and Vishnu, and responded to their presence, which doctors consider a positive sign. "Only after 24 hours of being removed from the ventilator can it be confirmed that she has passed the critical phase," he explained.

Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya indicated that preliminary findings suggest lapses on the part of the organizers.
