During a speech at the Wayanad Literature Festival, Thiruvothu disclosed that she had proposed the installation of toilets at shooting locations, considering the health issues faced by senior artists. She recounted, "Fighting for a restroom in shooting sites earned me the name 'Bathroom Parvathy'." She further mentioned that when she raised such issues, she was often pacified with statements like, "We are all part of the same family; just leave the issue." This response, she noted, came even from senior actors.
Thiruvothu also criticized AMMA's voting system, comparing it to outdated Panchayath election practices. She alleged that voting often occurred when the majority had left for meals, with decisions made by a show of hands, rendering the process superficial. This lack of transparency and genuine participation led her to question the organization's dignity, ultimately resulting in her departure.
These revelations come in the wake of the Justice Hema Committee Report, which highlighted pervasive sexual harassment and gender bias in the film industry. Thiruvothu has been vocal about the need for quicker action on the report's findings, expressing frustration over the prolonged wait for implementation.
