Court Grants Bail to Rapper Vedan in Wildlife Possession Case

The Perumbavoor First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has granted bail to Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, known by his stage name Vedan, in a case concerning the possession of a tiger tooth pendant.

Vedan was arrested by the Forest Department after a pendant he wore was confirmed, through scientific examination at a Hyderabad laboratory, to contain a genuine tiger tooth. The rapper claimed the pendant was a gift from a fan. He faces charges under the Wildlife Protection Act related to the unlawful possession of wildlife articles.

Prior to this, Vedan was arrested in a separate case involving the possession of ganja. Police seized six grams of the substance from a rented apartment at Kaniyampuzha near Vyttila, where Vedan and eight others, reportedly part of his band, were taken into custody during a narcotics raid. Following his release on bail in the ganja case, the Forest Department took Vedan into custody.
