The dispute reached a new low when S. Ramadoss, 85, accused his son of mismanaging the party and engaging in personal misconduct. He claimed that appointing Anbumani as a Union Minister at the age of 35 was a mistake and criticized him for unilaterally aligning the party with the Bharatiya Janata Party during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, against his preference for an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam . Ramadoss to consult legal and financial experts, indicating the seriousness of the leadership crisis.
The discord has also affected the party's organizational activities. Anbumani's absence from a key meeting organized by his father in Tindivanam, focused on the Social Improvement Society , highlights the deepening rift. While Anbumani typically attends SIS meetings, his decision to skip this event signals his dissatisfaction with being removed from the party president post. S. Ramadoss has indicated that the SIS will now assess party MLAs and functionaries, influencing candidate selection for the upcoming elections.
Party functionaries and cadres are reportedly disheartened by the ongoing conflict. While acknowledging S. Ramadoss's contributions to the upliftment of the Vanniyar community, many believe that Anbumani represents the future of the party and has the potential to elevate it further.
