Chandrasekhar makes a U-turn, calls it distortion

BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar has now voiced strong disapproval of  'L2: Empuraan,' alleging that it distorts historical events and misleads audiences. Chandrasekhar, who had previously expressed interest in watching the sequel to 'Lucifer,' has now decided against viewing it, citing concerns over its content.
In response to the backlash, BJP State General Secretary P. Sudheer clarified that the party has not initiated any campaign against the film. He emphasized that cinema and politics operate independently, stating, "No movie affects the party. Cinema will go its own way, and the party will go its own way." This stance suggests that individual opinions within the party do not reflect an official position on the film.
Conversely, Congress leader V.D. Satheesan has defended the filmmakers, accusing the Sangh Parivar of misrepresenting history and highlighting the importance of creative freedom in the arts.
The controversy has also sparked discussions about the role of cinema in depicting historical events. Critics from right-wing organizations argue that the film unfairly targets their ideology and presents a biased view of history.
Despite the political uproar, 'L2: Empuraan' has achieved significant commercial success, becoming the first Malayalam movie to cross the ₹86 crore mark within two days of its release. This box office performance indicates that the controversy may have heightened public interest in the film.
