Mallika expressed her dismay over claims that Prithviraj misled key collaborators, including superstar Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor. She emphasized that all involved parties were fully informed about the film's content. "There is not a single shot in the movie that neither of them knew about," she stated, highlighting that the script and scenes were collectively approved.
The controversy intensified when the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce announced a token strike on March 27, coinciding with the film's release date. This move was perceived by many as an attempt to obstruct 'Empuraan's' debut. Mallika suggested that such actions stem from industry insiders who feel threatened by Prithviraj's rising prominence. "Many people within the industry feared Prithviraj's growth and were instrumental in trying to prevent him from releasing the pan-Indian film," she remarked.
Mallika also addressed rumours suggesting that Prithviraj had deceived Mohanlal and the production team. She clarified that such claims are unfounded and that all major decisions were made collectively. "Prithviraj has not cheated anyone associated with any film, not just those associated with this film," she asserted.
The film's writer, Murali Gopy, known for his work on political dramas, has remained largely silent amidst the controversy. When approached for comments, he reportedly stated, "Let them fight it out," indicating a desire to distance himself from the ongoing disputes.
