In a Facebook post, he remarked, "They assassinated Gandhiji, killed thousands in Gujarat, demolished the Babri Masjid, and now they have killed a movie. The killings continue..."
This is not the first time Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Meletius has addressed controversies related to films. In August 2021, he supported director Nadirsha's right to title his film "Easho," questioning the objections raised against using the name. He noted that many individuals in central Travancore bear the name Easho and questioned the inconsistency in the outrage. He emphasized that his faith is rooted in personal commitment and experiences, and he challenged the notion of acting as "God’s advocate," asking, "Does God require our protection?"
